Program Highlights

A rich variety of special programs provide opportunities for students to explore topics in depth, to integrate classroom learning with experiences out in the world, and to share newly developed skills with peers and parents.   Back to School Night, the Middle School Science Fair, K-8 Open House, Winter Sing, Shakespeare elective, Art Opening and Elementary Spring Performance highlight student achievement in academics and the arts. Family Curriculum Night brings parents, teachers and students together to learn about a subject in-depth.   Recent topics have included science and mathematics.   Our Diversity Committee provides forums for dialog on key aspects of diversity, including a film series designed to engage all ages.

We also host musicians, theatrical performances and visiting science exhibits on a regular basis. Weekly assemblies and our Buddy Program build community and provide opportunities for students of different ages to learn from each other.   Classroom teachers organize frequent field trips, including those devoted to helping others and to preserving and enhancing local natural resources. Undoubtedly some of the most memorable events in the eyes of the students are our overnight adventures, including annual trips to Coyote Hills (3rd Grade), Fort Ross and Coloma (4th), Hendy Woods (5th), Point Bonita (6th), Mount Cross (7th) and Yosemite (8th).

We take pride in the special care we take to weave these programs into the   fabric of the Windrush curriculum.
