Windrush School - Where Minds Flourish
Elementary Afterschool

More than 30 years ago, Windrush was started by a group of working parents seeking an excellent full-day program. On-site care begins at 7 a.m. until classes begin, and from dismissal to 6 p.m. Care is also offered on many school holidays. The atmosphere is one of a neighborhood recreation center, with kids joyfully engaged in a wide variety of activities ranging from woodworking and cooking to cooperative games and soccer. A nutritious (trans-fat free, often organic) snack is served daily, and support with homework is available. Particular attention is given to welcoming new Kindergartners and providing additional responsibilities and opportunities for 5th graders. All elementary students receive superb care from experienced teachers, many of whom also serve in the school day program. Windrush School safety protocols as well as the Bill of Rights and Conflict Resolution process are an integral part of Afterschool, and the Director of the program attends elementary faculty meetings on a regular basis. With a program this stimulating, “Already?” is not an uncommon response to a parent’s late afternoon arrival for pick-up!
