Evaluation
Kindergarten: Children are invited to visit in the Kindergarten on a Saturday. During the visit children engage in a variety of tasks that indicate developmental readiness for Kindergarten, including free play activities. The confidential Kindergarten Teacher Recommendation Form should be given to the pre-school teacher, and returned to us by her/him.
First through Fifth Grades: Students are evaluated by a Windrush teacher in the areas of math, reading, and writing. Applicants are expected to be functioning at or above grade level in the basic curriculum subject areas.
Sixth through Eighth Grades: Applicants take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) in December 2007 or January 2008 (see the ISEE Online Guide at www.iseetest.org for testing information, registration forms, and deadlines).
First through Eighth Grades: Students also visit Windrush during a school day. Throughout this visit, we observe each applicant's social development and ability to work and communicate with peers and adults. Confidential Grades 1-8 Teacher Recommendation Forms should be given to your child's current and previous year's teachers and returned to us by them. Give the Grade Report Release Form to your child's school(s).
Enrollment Decisions
Once the application with the proper paperwork, evaluation and day visit are completed, the Admissions Committee considers all available information about an applicant. Also taken into account are:
- siblings currently attending Windrush
- balance of boys and girls in each class/grade level
- diversity of students in each class/grade level
