Members of many generations enjoyed the musical and gustatory offerings of the occasion. Visitors
especially relished spending time in the classrooms. They were asked to share "pearls of wisdom" with
Windrush students. Here are some of their responses:
"People learn by making mistakes. So next time you 'mess up,' remind yourself that you're learning
and try not to be hard on yourself."
"Stay curious!"
"You can complain that rosebushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses."
"...If what we own in common—the earth—is unhealthy, we will be unhealthy."
"When you're feeling down, help someone."
"Try to go through life with a smile, and do the right thing—even if you are the only one who knows it."
This translation of an old Italian adage, "Forget your good deeds; remember your misdeeds."
Perhaps the wisest "pearl" of all came from one of the youngest participants: "Always remember to
feed your turtle, or it might run away, very slowly."
